Simulating Grazing and Minimizing Waste in the Corral: HayBoss Feeders

hayboss feedersCorral feeding systems, though handy, can make for a lot of wasted grub, and depending on the voracity of the livestock, can also mean stuck animals. At this year’s Canada’s Farm Progress Show, there was a different sort of bale feeder on display, that seemingly addressed both of those problems while simultaneously simulating grazing.

The Hayboss feeder, much unlike its traditional counterparts, is composed of a small, hinged roof; an adjustable floor; a galvanized steal frame and knotless, polypropylene, retractable netting. Livestock are able to graze through the net, minimizing waste and slowing ingestion.

In this video, Clayton Jubenville of Hayboss Feeders describes how many bales the feeders hold, how they function to mimic natural grazing (and how this lessens boredom vices), where the feeders can be found and how much they cost to order.
