Todd Hames, president of the Canadian Canola Growers Association, was first in line at the Man Van at this year’s FarmTech event to have a simple blood test done that could save his life. How you may ask? The Man Van’s sole purpose is to alert men over 40 to their risk of prostate cancer and, through a simple finger prick taken at various events around the province, is screening thousands of Alberta men for the disease.

When FarmTech wrapped up this year, the show announced a whopping $10,000 donation in support of cancer research in Alberta, and announced that the Man Van tested almsot 300 individuals at the show, 65% of which had never been tested before.
In the video below, Hames chats with Shaun Haney about the importance of testing for prostate cancer if you’re over 40, why men just need to get it done and stop putting it off and how stepping up now could save your life. How’s that for a gift for the ones you love?
