Get Down & Take a Closer Look at Fall Weed Pressure

A clean start at planting can mean a fall herbicide application, even well into October if conditions are right. Fall weed control is the equivalent of a pre-plant burn-off for winter wheat, for one, but it’s also the best time to get a hold of several weeds, including perennials like dandelion and constantly germinating Canada fleabane. In this video, Drew Thompson, of BASF, shows us why it’s so important to get out and get down in the dirt when you’re scouting fields. Winter annuals are notoriously tiny seedlings and can easily be covered by chaff and crop residue. Several weed species are at their most vulnerable heading into winter and can be killed most effectively and efficiently now. Thompson covers strategies and products for fall weed pressure, plus scouting tips in the video below.
