Dutch AirGuard Puts the Brakes on Seed Speed to Limit Bounce

Air seeders can be tough on seed — the amount of air needed to push seed and fertilizer all the way to the openers can be tough to get just right, and, to avoid plugs or bridging, can sometimes run a little high, causing seed to bounce out of the furrow. Dutch Industries has developed the AirGuard seed brake to slow seed down before the opener to eliminate the bounce and fine-tune seed and fertilizer placement.

Shaun Haney stopped in to speak with Jason Steinly, of Dutch Industries, during Canada’s Farm Progress Show, to talk about how the AirGuard works. In this video, Steinly explains how the $20 attachment reduces wind speed in the air line to increase accurate seed placement, and shows us how to customize the unit to increase or decrease the seed brake.
