Fencing Tips for Multi-Species Grazing

So, we now know the benefits of multi-species grazing, and how to choose a guardian dog for predation control, but how do we keep the little critters from escaping?

At the Multi-Species Grazing Workshop hosted by Sexton Grazing and Consulting in Hanley, SK, we spoke to Jason Williams, Western Canada sales agent with Tru-Test.  In this video, Williams explains how to convert an existing barbed-wire fence into a structure suitable for small and large ruminants alike.  Williams recommends three six-foot ground rods for most electric fences, spaced roughly ten feet apart. Larger chargers may require as many as fifteen ground rods, but for the sake of your sanity, we’ll assume yours needs only a few.
