Big Discussions from Big Personalities at FarmTech 2013

Shaun Haney interviews Peter Johnson at Farm Tech ’13

It’s the last day of FarmTech — my very first one — and it’s been quite the week. The conference started with a big, bombastic Don Cherry look-a-like, featured popular presentations from Patrick Fabian, Stuart Barden, Drew Lerner and OMAFRA’s Peter Johnson, with the one and only Ron McLean speaking at Wednesday’s banquet, and will close out with David Chilton, the Wealthy Barber and Dragon from CBC’s Dragon’s Den.

This is one really fantastic ag conference. The vibe is busy and upbeat, and each of the speaker’s sessions end with lively questions that have people chatting and discussing topics in the hallway. In speaking with farmers, I’ve found that each one of them has a clear take home message (or three!) they’ve taken away from this conference, and many plan to implement some change on their farm because of it.

If you couldn’t make it to FarmTech, don’t worry. RealAgriculture.com interviewed many of the speakers, covering everything from insects to watch for in 2013, how to be your own farm’s CEO, to how to push wheat yields far above what they are currently. Stay tuned!
