Grazing Corn in Saskatchewan — Tips for Making it Work

Planting grazing corn is a great way to extend the Western Canadian grazing season well into the winter or start it earlier in the spring. The crop works well as a forage, even when seeded a bit later than ideal, as you’ll see in this interview.

In this interview, Kevin Elmy, of Friendly Acres Seed Farm at Saltcoats, Sask., explains how variety selection is incredibly important in making grazing corn a success on your farm. The cows will love it, but you do need to make some key decisions so they don’t overload on grain.
