Coming Attractions: Beef Research School To Debut on RealAgriculture.com

After a year-over-year doubling of traffic to the site, RealAgriculture.com hired its first full-time editor this spring. Now, the site continues to expand in the form of a new school.

Joining the line up RealAgriculture’s production-focused Schools is the new Beef Research School —  a series of 30 videos produced in partnership with the Beef Cattle Research Council (BCRC) and funded in part by the Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency (ALMA). The Beef Research School will feature interviews with producers, researchers and other experts from across Canada on a wide variety of research-supported production practices.

“Producers have demonstrated that they are keen to learn and will quickly adopt new research-supported ideas when it makes sense for their operation,” said Matt Bowman, Chair of the BCRC and a producer from Thornloe, Ontario.  “Given the range of research topics of interest to producers, it can be difficult for them to stay caught up on publications or attend numerous seminars and field days, so the videos will be an engaging, convenient way to learn about the latest innovations.”

Episodes of the new school will include an extensive look at scientifically-informed beef production practices, from safe transport and low-stress weaning, to rangeland health assessments and winter feeding strategies.

The first video, highlighting the value of research to the Canadian beef industry and gains made in the last decade, will be posted early next week at  www.BeefResearchSchool.com and right here at RealAgriculture.com.
