A 3-Point Plan for Using Micronutrients on Your Farm

The macronutrients — nitrogen, phosphorus, potassium and sulphur — get most of the attention when planning for crop nutrition needs, as they should, but more and more farmers are looking at a crop’s need for micronutrients to reach maximum yield potential. Micros are needed in very small amounts but are critical for optimal plant health and crop production. They’re also pricey, so it’s prudent to have a well-developed plan of testing, tracking and applying micronutrients for maximum benefit.

In this video, Mark Goodwin, research coordinator for Wolf Trax, lays out the most common micronutrient deficiency by crop type for Western Canada, and also outlines a three-step plan for getting the most from micronutrients.
