Canola School – The Importance of Fungicide in a Cropping Plan – Courtney Stephenson, Bayer CropScience

Wet conditions over the past few years have brought the importance of fungicide back on to the producers radar. Those conditions are the final piece of the puzzle diseases like sclerotinia need to get established and cause real damage to canola. The devastating results of fungal diseases are helping producers to realize the importance of incorporating fungicides as a part of their cropping plan. Besides the obvious control measures they provide, when timed properly there are also benefits to plant growth and development that can occur as a result. With the price of canola being a factor as well, fungicides also serve to help protect that investment.

I spoke to Courtney Stephenson, territory sales manager for Bayer CropScience at the Bayer CropScience Innovation Tour in Lacombe, Alberta about the high risk of sclerotinia this year and why fungicide is so important this year.
