CASE IH Launches the Tier 4 Engine to Meet EPA and CEPA Requirements

Whether you are talking about your car engines or tractor engines, there is a constant push from manufacturers to increase fuel economy and meet new emission requirements without losing performance.  This is not an easy task.  In the field, in tough situations farmers need performance and that extra horsepower that is going to get you through that slough.  At the same time with the cost of fuel, increasing engine power cannot mean that you spend more time at the fuel truck than circling the field getting the crop in.

Recently Case IH launched the Tier 4 engine that meets the new EPA and CEPA emission requirements.  I have heard some farmers say they are concerned about new engines and will still try and buy the tier 3 this year.  On Wednesday night I chatted with a friend of mine that sells for CNH and he said that once farmers use the engine and get used to adding the DEF they will like the new product.

My understanding is that the 2011 tractors have the engine and the combines will have them in 2011.  I encourage you to listen to my interview below with Darryl Priel from CASE IH.  Darryl is the Tractor Product Specialist for Western Canada, Western North Dakota and Montana.  Darryl talks about the need to add DEF and how the new engine works.
