Wheat School: How to Check for Bugs in Your Grain Bin – Helmut Spieser

Have you ever had visitors to your farm that wish never came?  Some of the worst unwanted visitors to you your farm are bugs in your wheat bin.  Farming is very hard work.  It takes incredible fortitude, perseverance and a little luck to get the crop in the bin in a timely manner with high quality.  Too many times farmers assume that once the crop is in the bin the work is done.

Previously we talked with Helmut on the “Proper Storage of Wheat“, but we also need to know how to check the bin for bugs.  Even though you follow the proper process to store the wheat you need to make sure that you are regularly checking the bin to ensure that there are no unfriendly critters causing havoc with your high quality inventory.  In this segment of the C&M Seeds Wheat School, Helmut Spieser for Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA) discusses how to check the bin for bugs.
