Who Are the Innovative Farmers of Ontario?

I have always considered farmers to be a very innovative group.  I mean think about those episodes of the Prairie Farm report that showed a guy converting a truck into a high clearance sprayer and it also could be used to mow the grass when needed.

This week I spent some time at the Innovative Farmers of Ontario meeting in London, ON.  What started as a group focused on no-till farming has become a group focused in many areas.  Ken Nixon the President of the group told me that the Innovative Farmer meetings are a great opportunity for farmers to learn and improve on the way that they do things.  The two day agenda was full of speakers that challenged the group to push themselves and continue to learn and work on their farming practices.  Topics included a comparison between the auto sector agriculture, trash management, stress management and soybean genetics.

I found that this was a highly energized group.  I had a couple Ontario ag industry friends tell me that this meeting is a collection of some of the best farmers in Ontario.

I talked to Ken Nixon the President of the Innovative Farmers of Ontario about the association and what are some of its goals.
